
Applications from suitably qualified diagnostic engineers are invited in any of the following grades of membership – apart from Fellow which is an awarded grade by the Council – and fully paid up members may use the post nominal letters.
STUDENT MEMBER (SIDiagE.)
(1) age up to 20;
and (2) is engaged in an appropriate occupation;
or is studying.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER (AMIDiagE.)
(1) aged 20 and above;
and (2) is engaged in an appropriate occupation;
or is studying;
or is awaiting fresh employment;
or is undertaking research.
MEMBER (MIDiagE.)
(1) aged 25 and above;
and (2) is engaged in an appropriate occupation;
or is studying;
or is awaiting fresh employment;
or is undertaking research;
or is retired;
and (3) occupies (or has occupied) a responsible position;
or has made a written contribution to advance the knowledge of diagnostics;
or has attended at least TWO acceptable post-experience courses.
FELLOW (FIDiagE.)
(1) has been a Member of the Institution (MIDiagE.) for 2 years;
(2) aged 30 and above;
and (3) is engaged in an appropriate occupation;
or is studying;
or is awaiting fresh employment;
or is undertaking research;
or is retired;
and (4) occupies (or has occupied) a responsible position;
or has made a written contribution to advance the knowledge of diagnostics;
or has attended at least TWO acceptable post-experience courses;
and (5) has made a significant contribution to the technology of diagnostic
engineering;
or by participation as an active technical correspondent;
or has made a significant contribution to the OBJECTS of the Institution;
and (6) submits a case study, meeting the requirements of the ‘Case Study Scheme’, with application to upgrade to Fellow.
N.B. “a responsible position” is one in which a person is permitted to act with a minimum of direction but is personally responsible for the outcome of his activities. It may be related to technical complexity, physical hazards or supervision of others.
